How to Use This Wiki
This page is written for speed. Read it once, then come back only if you forget a shortcut.
Three ways to find what you need
Section titled “Three ways to find what you need”- Search. Press ⌘ K (Windows: Ctrl K) and type. It searches every page in the wiki.
- Start from the system. A patient arrives with a complaint — open Systems and pick the system involved.
- Not sure how sick they are? Open Red Flags and look for the finding you are worried about.
On your phone — do this once
Section titled “On your phone — do this once”It takes 20 seconds and it is worth it. On the iPhone:
- Open the site in Safari (not Chrome — only Safari can install it on iOS).
- Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
You now have an ED APP icon on your home screen that:
- opens full-screen, with no address bar and no browser buttons
- works with no signal — every page you have opened stays readable, including in the basement and the ambulance bay
- keeps itself current whenever you do have a connection
Android is the same idea: Chrome menu → Add to Home screen.
Reading a page fast
Section titled “Reading a page fast”- Pages are short by design. If one is long, use the “On this page” contents at the top.
- Tap the page title at the top left to get back to the menu.
- Search: tap the magnifying glass, or the ⌘ K shortcut on a computer.
What the labels mean
Section titled “What the labels mean”- Physician — on a procedure page, an APP does not perform it at this site. The page tells you when it is needed, who to call, and what to have ready.
- Elsewhere — the procedure is performed and taught by another service.
- Status on the Curriculum Map — Pending, Active, Complete. This tracks the curriculum committee’s progress, not whether a page is safe to rely on.
